Adventures of a boy and his blog

blogging boy is now on twitter

it seems like i,m the last one on twitter.   I am happy to report that as of today I am know a  member of twitter. If you would like to follow me here is the link @bloggingboy .  I feel very lucky that the name to my blog was not already taken.  That made my day.  As of right now, I am following 2 people, one is my dad and the other is another 10 year old that I found when I was searching.  She was talking about Mario Kart and that is right up my alley so I followed her.  I hope she follows me back.  At least I think me dad will follow me back.

Over the next couple of days I will be working on getting a tweet button for this blog.

how I got started blogging

It has been 3 months since my first post and I have learned so much since then.   Here is my first post http://bloggingboy.com/random-thought/whats-happening-today

My first 10 posts were like 20 words each.  I have finally started to write posts with more words.  I try to always write 112 words or more.  Up until now my blog has been a personal blog, but with this post I want to talk more about my blog and what I have learned so far.  Maybe this will attract more visitors since I am only getting like 100 per month right now.

In case you were wondering, here is how I got started blogging.  My dad does a lot of stuff on the internet.  He is a domainer, then he started Tycoon Blogger, then he asked me and my sister if we wanted to start a blog.  I knew about forums because me and my dad started a pokemon forum last summer but I did not know anything about blogs. My dad got me and my sister two really great domain names, Blogging Boy and Blogging Girl. I started blogging about things I did in school and my house.  This summer I have been blogging about what I have been doing in camps.  I try to blog at least once a week, sometimes more.  I am working on getting more people to read my blog.  Right now my grandparents read it so they can see what I am doing.  When I talk to them on the phone, I just tell them to read my blog.

I am really into blogging and as it says in my title we are a blogging family and my mom is a facebook addict.

DUTCH WONDERLAND

yesterday I went to DUTCH WONDERLAND I went on dragons lair1st then I also we went on wonderland special 2nd I do not remember what order but I also went on … doubble splash flute.  We also rode the monorail, which was cool because we got to see thew entire park.  i recommend this highly.

We did not go to the bumper cars because it was near the smoking section.  Smoking is dumb and I do not like being even close to the smoke.

It was a very hot day so i was glad that we went to Dukes Lagoon water park.  We spent an hour or so getting wet and going down the water slides,     I got a rare webkinz an named it D utch W. (a bat webkinz)

fish facts

As some of you know I have pet fish, I researched some fun facts here they are

  • -they eat their own kind- that can’t be very pleasant
  • -aquarium fish are the most popular with 12 million households owning fish
  • -the tiniest fish is the stout infant at a quarter of an inch
  • -dental offices have tanks in order to reduce anxiety in patients
  • -goldfish can outlive dogs and cats- they can live up over 20 years

Did you know that they are actually fish who stalk other fish? One such fish is the “Pike”. Apparently it likes to hide under logs and other areas and stalks other fish. Now that is weird and funny at the same time!

Since most people me included just have a family tank at home filled with fish, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some fun facts about goldfish:

  • -the oldest goldfish recorded was 43 years old!
  • -they don’t have stomachs
  • -goldfish can actually see ultra-violet and infra-red colors
  • -they can survive in freezing water
  • -goldfish have been pets well over 1000 years

One fact I found amazing was that fish can actually drown! Okay, you are probably wondering how is that possible? Well a fish needs oxygen just like we do. So when they are taken out of the water they get a lethal dose of oxygen because their gills can’t handle the intake.

 lipstick actually contained fish scales!

If you have any other fun fish facts please leave me a comment about it.

Film Camp

I went to film and photography camp this week.  I will post more about that later but I wanted to getr the video up right away.  Enjoy!!

SHARK DISSECTION

last blog post I said stay tuned for a SHARK DISSECTION and here is the news………………..

The day started off with us watching a video of a camp counselor from another camp dissecting  a shark.  Then we read a long book about sharks and then we went out for snack.  Finally it was time for the dissection.  I was surprised that the shark was so small.  It was a sand tiger shark.  I was too sad to cut the shark open but the rest of the group did that.  Once it is cut open, I did cut out the heart after the liver was removed.   It was really weird when I saw the heart, it was actually black unlike ours.  We did the dissection outside because of the putrid oder.  I wanted to take home the hear, but just like the squid, we could not take home any organs.

after the SHARK DISSECTION I played kick ball (every day before that I did not) I got to hot so I sat down under a shady tree then after a little bit my camp group went inside but forgot me.  That’s ok , I found my back inside.

ps. Did you know that sharks have no bones only cartilage.

Science Explorers Camp

This week I am going to science explorers camp at a a school near my house. There is two divisions, “take a dive” and “junior explorers”. Take a dive is for older kids, that is what I am in. My sister aka Blogging Girl is afraid of anything medical or inside of bodies so she is in the other camp.  On Monday, we did a dissection of a squid.  There was 4 big squids and a bunch of smaller squids.  Me and my partner got to dissect our very own big squid.  I took out the heart and the stomach.  My partner took out the gills and part of the cartilage.  Did you know that squids have a beak?  I took out half of it and got to take it home.  I also got to take home half of the cartilage and one of the squids tentacles that I cut off myself.  I wanted to take home the heart but my counselor said no.   On tuesday we saw if an egg floats in salt water or in freash water.  It does not float in fresh water unless you crack the egg.  With the salt water it did float when our camp counselor added enough salt (enough salt is about half of a salt container.)  Then we made fish prints.  This is when you take dead fsh and then you paint it with any color and then the counselor takes your shirt and you open the fins and push it down on the shirt.  I got two fish prints.  Yesterday, we met a second camp counselor and we made boats out of clay and tin foil.  I made three, two out of tin foil.  We saw how many pennies could float on it.  Mine was 36 pennies but it touched the bottom.  Today, was an experiment day.  First we did an experiment with 4 cups.  They were  sea shells, craked egg with no yolk, a tums pill (2), and a piece of chalk (2), and a cup of water, and a cup of vinegar.  What you do is put some water and cover all the things and see what happens after 5 minutes.  Then pour the water out of the cup and take out the tums and chalk, sea shell, and egg shell and put it on a napkin.  Then you get the cups again and put it all back in and see what happens.  We did an another expirement with sand, magic sand and liquids.

Tomorrow is the big shark day.  We are doing a shark disection.  Check back soon for the details about the shark disection.
